At ClearPivot one of the questions we receive quite often is what makes one platform better than the other? With options like HubSpot, Marketo, WordPress, Squarespace, Weebly, and Wix to name a few - how and why should a business choose one platform over the other?

A few years ago, we discussed how to integrate HubSpot with Wordpress. Now we want to take the time to compare two platforms to see how they stack up. This week we are comparing HubSpot and Wix. In future weeks we will compare HubSpot to Squarespace and Weebly. If you would like us to explore other platforms and how they stack up against HubSpot, shoot us an email and let us know, we would love to help!

Let us dive right into the comparison.

HubSpot vs. Wix: An Overview

Both Wix and HubSpot have free versions which give users the ability to use ample pieces of each platform without paying. The significant difference here is Wix is a web development platform, and HubSpot is a comprehensive digital marketing platform. So where Wix gives users the ability to build a website for free - HubSpot offers users the ability to gather leads, manage, and market to them through their platform. Let us go more in-depth into each system individually to see what this means for businesses.

In the free version of Wix, users can take advantage of a drag and drop website building platform. Wix works best for B2C users who do not need much out of their website. Wix has several target demographics including musicians, photographers, events, and restaurants all of which require minimal sites which can be minimalistic and do not need any technical logistics.

In comparison, HubSpot offers two different free shells which organizations can use at the same time for free. The first is sales, and the second is marketing. HubSpot Sales gives users the opportunity to collate and manage deals in deal boards. It includes features such as email tracking, meeting scheduling, contact and company record keeping, and task reminders. HubSpot Sales is a full-service CRM (customer relationship management) platform that any organization can use for free. HubSpot Marketing is the second free offering from HubSpot. HubSpot Marketing provides users with another area for contact and company record management but focuses more on the capturing of new leads. The obtaining of data occurs in three spaces: ads, forms, and lead flows.

HubSpot vs. Wix: Is there a comparison?scale-2635397_640

When looking at the two platforms, there is no direct comparison. Users who wish to take advantage of the drag and drop website design which Wix provides can find the same offering in the paid version of HubSpot. Wix does not offer any additional services outside of website design. While Wix has limited lead capturing abilities, it does not feature an in-house customer relationship management system like HubSpot.

What started as an article comparing Wix and HubSpot turned into a list of how Wix and HubSpot are different from each other. At the end of the day, if an organization is seeking a one-page website with limited marketing capabilities, then Wix is for them. If a business wants to capitalize on digital marketing opportunities, then they will want to make sure and use HubSpot.
